It is a great pleasure and honour for us to exchange the first handle. Our specimen comes from a former carpenter's workshop in Alfter, which we used as a studio at times. In these premises we developed the idea for the project "262 handles" and spent many hours of creative work.
We see the project as a large social-artistic sculpture in the tradition of Joseph Beuys. The work of the foundation takes on an aesthetic and haptic dimension. It becomes part of the daily interactions with the new building and the buildings of the exchange organisations. We very much hope that many of the Foundation's staff will respond to the call to find a suitable exchange partner in their respective networks, whether in the immediate vicinity of Berlin or in the farthest corner of the world, to link these places with one another and implant them in the new building.
We are very excited!
