The RLS Sachsen-Anhalt e.V. was founded in 1993 as Bildungsverein Elbe-Saale - Verein zur Förderung von Kultur, Wissenschaft und politische Bildung. As a recognised political foundation of the party DIE LINKE. Sachsen-Anhalt we are part of the nationwide network of foundations and organise political education work throughout the state. In our federal state we are financially supported by the State Centre for Political Education in Saxony-Anhalt.

Together with the RLS regional office of the RLS Bundesstiftung, the association's headquarters are located in the state capital Magdeburg. In addition, we have an honorary staff and committed volunteers in the university town of Halle, in the Harz Mountains, in the Altmark region and in various other regions of the state.
Our work is supported by numerous cooperation partners, from clubs and associations to municipal institutions and universities. Every year, more than 100 public events such as conferences, seminars, lecture evenings, book readings, exhibitions, film screenings or educational trips on various topics take place throughout the country. We devote ourselves to historical and also current topics and offer interested parties a platform for discussion about politics and society, the future development of society and its critical analysis - cooperatively, controversially and in discourse with others.

Since 2010, the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation Saxony-Anhalt has had its regional office in the current premises near Magdeburg's main railway station. The door handle comes from the entrance of the seminar room of the RLS Saxony-Anhalt in Ebendorfer Str.4, where full-time and honorary office, as well as politically committed and interested people have been holding the door handle for many years.
