zakk exists since 1977, when it was founded under the somewhat unwieldy name of "Zentrum für Aktion, Kultur und Kommunikation", or zakk for short. Since then, the cultural centre in the old factory building in the Flingern district has enriched the lives of many people in Düsseldorf and far beyond with its diverse programme. zakk takes up current trends and makes them the subject of discussion, both on a political and cultural level. zakk offers people space to become active. Perhaps even to go on stage. Some become famous. Others are already famous when they perform at zakk. No matter what happens at zakk, whether it's music, the spoken word, parties, discussions or do-it-yourself activities: zakk is loud and quiet. And can make you happy.

The door handle belongs to one of zakk's seminar/event rooms, more precisely Room 4, in which Rosa Luxemburg Foundation events have been taking place for several years. Other events such as workshops, discussion rounds and the regular programme planning meetings also take place in this room.

For many years, the door handle has been the door opener to conferences and events of the Rosa Luxemburg Club in Düsseldorf as well as to the regular feminist reading circle organised by zakk and RLS.
