Liliesleaf in Rivonia near Johannesburg is the place where the underground struggle against the apartheid regime was coordinated. Nelson Mandela disappeared there. The hiding place was discovered and Mandela, together with those arrested in Liliesleaf, was sentenced to prison on Robben Island in the so-called Rivonia trial.
